The Center for Inquiry assists community groups of rationalists, skeptics, and humanists around the globe. CFI and its programs have helped to found such groups worldwide, developing exciting program and event line-ups, and working to build the movement further. Virtually all of these organizations are the product of local grass-roots secular humanist and skeptic movements. They draw upon volunteers and Center for Inquiry Friends and supporters who are enthusiastic about our agenda and wish to take part in our movement.
Center for Inquiry Branches have been founded in part to act as regional hubs for the professional support and training of the skeptical and secular humanist communities. In some cases, the community groups in a given region will work with the Center for Inquiry International to create a new branch serving their area. Initially supported through fundraising campaigns by the Center for Inquiry International, regional branches strive for financial independence by attracting Friends of the Center. Additionally, supporters in the United States and around the world can become involved in the Center for Inquiry movement by becoming a Friend of the Center at large.
